This figure i started painting 3-4 years ago and thought it was about time i finished it.I've a few things to do yet but what p****d me off is the cloak dried a satin finish which is unusual for me as i can usually get red to go matt
Luca if you read this i'd love to have the colour mix you did on your last Romans cloak and how do you get your reds matt

Hey Brian,

Excellent paint job on the Roman - especially those skin tones, cause they're really spot on! The cloak is a beautiful shade of red, too - even if you think it's a bit satiny. Do you paint in oils?

BTW: got a few of those Gemina Comics figures, including Porthos, from Squadron. They are fantastic little things! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Dear Brian,

Excellent work. I like your flesh tone.

Two questions:

1. I struggle still with my flesh tones and paint in oil. Please give me your tips and formula.

2. Are you still selling commissioned work? If yes please send details to [email protected]

Look forward to your reply. Well done once again - I really like your work.

Many thanks

Hi
Yes i use oils and it's good to hear you tracked down the Gemini figures Nancy
The figure of Julius is part of a vignette including Cleopatra and a little boy by EMI. I bought it about 4 years ago but couldn't be bothered to do the whole scene so i've just got round to painting Julius on his own .Well better later than never i suppose Francesca

Hi Bob
A lovely detailed vignette by you.Your a better man than me as i had to get Julius a divorce from Cleopatra and the kid as i didn't have the patience to paint the lot
Brian

Brian, no worries as you did such a nice job on the solo fogure. I did it for a commission so I had to do the whole lot. I didn't like Cleo's face as it did not seem as I would have pictured her.
