I was going to keep this under wraps and not show the pictures as i was bored out of my tiny mind a few weeks ago and came up with this strange idea of painting a whole figure in different shades of grey painted over primer but what the hell i'll ley you lot have a butchers.
He's meant to represent the fading shades of time almost like a ghost of times past
He's not finished yet ,i've still got a bit to do to him and the base

That's a brilliant idea Brian. I really love the way you thought about it and of course the result. Very nice.

Beautifully done Brian.....the figure lends itself very well to such a painting concept! I'm glad you took the time to share it!

Incidentally, Thomas David from France has done a similar thing with a fantasy miniature:
Emperors Champion

However, I prefer yours!!! So much more atmosphere!

Brian-

I have always liked how you have painted whites in oil. Or, grays in this case :)

Would you pls share you mixes?

Thanks,

Keith

Brian,

I always loved your rendition of knights. Well, i think this is in the categorie of your best.
But i really wanted to know how you did it.......

So please, share something.

Thanks for all your comments. The way it was done is pretty straightforward.I prim ed the figure in grey and white car primer then painted over this surface with Titanium white ,Sepia and Paynes grey in varying degrees.I added touches of Yellow ochre to this mix for the belts etc and touches of Brown madder Aluzarin for the flesh tones.Basicly a bit of this and a bit of that and just mucked about until i got something i liked,a bit like i paint when i've got a free hand to paint where there's no restrictions on colours.I'll try and get a decent picture of the face.

That is really great!! Always wanted to do a fig like ablack and white picture but it is one hard thing to do.

Excellent work, so fitting for this figure!

Looking forward to the next batch of pictures!

Well done indeed Brian. It's always great to see somebody in the hobby do a different take on things, and things look like a big success.

This geezer gives me the creeps.......... ;)

I love this figure and your rendition of it. I wish I could afford it. Maybe I'll get lucky at the Houston, Dallas, or Tulsa shows...
