Finished at last, I very much enjoyed this figure. It's the first time I've made changes to a figure, my previous 'sculpting' efforts having been the odd tarpaulin and sandbag on vehicles, and some filling of gaps... I re-positioned the right arm, to give the right wrist a better angle whilst holding the GPMG. I re-positioned the bipod from folded up to the ready position, and the left hand to hold the GPMG. I added the sling, the ammo belt to the GPMG, and the camo on the helmet. I'm still in two minds whether I should add a sleeping mat to the Bergen or not...
Painted with Acrylics, mainly Vallejo, and whatever else I had to hand on the desk.

Hi Henk

Nice one ,camo looks good must have took a few hours !

Good to see you have added the tracer rounds as well

What's next on the bench ?

Thanks for sharing

Nap

Thanks Nap, it took a long time, but I really enjoyed painting the camo. I've just snapped up a bargain on eBay, the old Verlinden US special forces Vietnam figure. I may have a go at Tiger stripe camo on that.
The next figure on the bench is a duo, it's another old Verlinden kit, the Arnhem '44 para carrying his wounded comrade.

DPM and then US tiger stripes on two consecutive figures? You must be mad.
Anyway, a top job mate.
I reckon the sleep mat is needed....but what do I know?

Having had a second look, your handling of the DPM is sweet.(y)

Thanks Pew, glad you like it.
I like painting camouflage, partly because I still find it hard to shade and highlight large solid objects to my satisfaction. And it's a good excuse to camouflage the face....:angelic:. I'm taking a small break inbetween though, I'm doing the Verlinden "Arnhem 44 Paratrooper" first. That only has his smock to camouflage (y).

Taking a little break is wise. If you don't it results is a drop in quality / enthusiasm and what you've done thus far doesn't deserve that. (y)

Hi Henk, great figure, love the camo, but there is common thinking that we carried Bergen's, in fact, very few did, signalers and medics, we carried fighting order only ammo and food, there was no point in carrying them, they would only slow us down, from San Carlos we advanced to Teal Inlet which was approx 30 miles away over horrendous terrain and the aim was to get there quickly, so we marched through the day and night till we reached the objective. From Teal Inlet, it was the same routine to Estancia House, but the weather was now awful, once at Estancia the bergen's were brought forward by chopper to our company locations around Estancia, on Mount Longdon after the battle and in Port Stanley after the cease-fire.
Bye for now Jimmy
ps 2 Para did similar, the marines lugged theirs :)

Thank you Jimmy, glad you like it. Thanks for the added insight in the carrying or not of the Bergen and the photos too. I did realise that the paras didn't tend to carry their bergens, and Moz's original sculpt does not include the bergen, or the extra ammo belt over the shoulders. But someone added those, and this is how I got the figure from eBay .

Hi Henk, I am truly envious of you and the your fellow model makers skills, this is why I look enviously at this site, carry on the good work.
Bye for now Jimmy
