I've used Rosemary and the chap Valient mentioned, both good quality and service. Still can't paint worth a damn but I can't blame them for that :shifty:

On another forum, one of the guys posted a figure he's including with a combat suit, a young girl pilot, sci fi piece. Anyway, the figure is beautifully painted, and he said, "So, I dipped her in a bottle of Mr Figure Painter, as you can see..."

Gotta get me a bottle o' that stuff...

Prost!

Hi del, I've tried rosemary's, series 7, and David's. They all hook easily and are too soft for small scale figures but ok for larger scales and busts. I paint mainly 54 and 75 mm so need brushes for fine detail. Like Brian l find the rafael 8404 good but have just discovered rubloff brushes from russia available on Amazon great for detail and hold their point well.

Worth a try and if you don't like them I'll buy them off you...lol

Keith

Please, can you tell me what size brushes you recommend for 54 and 75 mm figures? Thank you.

I suppose it's what suits your painting style. Many moons ago I used to sell W&N series 7 as R S Imports and I remembered they sent me a range of shorter Bristle length brushes which were perfect for 54mm and 75mm figures. Because they were shorter, there wasn't the softness that the origonal brushes have. I'm sure you can still get them direct from W&N. Ray

They are w&N mini's Ray and are probably best suited to fine detail and have a nice spring back so give more control.
They are also good for blending when worn past detail work.

You will pay somewhere around £11.00 to £13.00 depending on size You get what you pay for .

Use the brush sizes and shapes that you are comfortable painting with.

For example I'll use pointed round ranging from 10/0 up to a 6, along with filbert and angular types up to ½ inch. Same brushes I'll use for 25mm and busts.

Quite simply.......Use whatever cheap brush it takes to do the job.......Too much information scares people away..........

Not strictly right. A good quality brush can make applying paint more consistent.

A lot of art painters for example use lower quality and cheaper brushes for the bulk of a painting and reserve the high quality and more expensive brushes for the later refining, detailing, and finishing stages.

As for best brushes. No such thing as a brush feel is quite a personal thing to you. Whichever brush lets you create the finish you want is the right brush.
