I am Bryan's son, the family has recently collated a collection of Bryan's artwork, books and remaining original artwork - is there a market if these items were put up for sale. And if yes - where?

IMHO opinion it depends what you expect to get out of this sale. Over here you have a community that worships the works of Bryan Fosten and has used it as reference and inspiration for models throughout the years. In this regard you are in the right place to draw attention to the sale of his pieces of art. If many of us have the budget to buy an original is doubtful. If these works shall hit the salesprice they deserve in my eyes it might be better to look for a platform that offers auctions for art collectors.
My input - I am far from an expert.

Best wishes, Martin

Hi, I agree with Martin they are a very special works of art that we all love and admire. I’m sure there is a collectors market for the original art works. I’m sure a lot of people on here would love an original art work from your father . You would have no shortage of takers for them that’s for sure. They are some of the best in the business.

I would say it depends on what you wish to get from them? Their is a definite market for them as there are a lot of fans out their. But if you want a very good price go to an art auction and I’m sure you will not be disappointed. But if you want someone to love and care for your fathers legacy then please do try people on here They will make sure they are loved and cared for and carry on your fathers name for years to come.

That’s just my opinion for what it’s worth. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

Hi Angus

I have no doubt there are many here who would love an original piece of artwork from a extremely talented and respected artist

Here on PF we have a minimum requirement of 50 + posts to use the Market place

You could produce a list of the artwork possibly reference to any books it appeared in and provide a contact for members to get a hold of you to discuss

You could also use Social media selling groups

I think it would be wise to do some research on the internet regarding the books, in my opinion books are fairly low value these days unless they are collectors items or very limited editions, in Bryans case of course they may be? alternatively a good start would be to take alook at an online book market such as "Abe Books" key in the title and if the book is there it will list all of the dealers that have one for sale internationally. If they are rare it will give you a clue about value. Once you have established a rough value Naps idea to produce a list and put contact details on Facebook and sites such as this will attract interest from modellers and those interested in military history.

My experience of book dealers (even specialists) is that they will offer you peanuts so unless you just want to get rid quickly don't go down that route. A while ago a collection of around £10k went to a dealer offer of £1100. I was recently offered £1 each for a collection of 450 osprey books, to be honest I would rather give them to a charity shop!

As regards prints find a good quality auction house that include Military history and Military Art in their sales for an auction estimate.

I am sending you a private mail with my phone number if you need some idea of contacts.
