Our local antique shop had in some nice little six cm. seated figures of the young Budda and for £2 each how could I refuse getting one.
I think they are cast in dental plaster as it is very hard and not like resin to drill.

After a bit of Googling I found that his skin was usually gold-leafed so I used an oil based Rowney product called Goldfinger, a tube of which I purchased many years ago for touching up an old picture frame, it is buffable as well.

Next step will be to paint in the shadow areas of the clothing but that should be tomorrow.

Very nice (there doesn't seem to be an emoji for serene, so angelic will have to do :angelic: )

I have some Buddhas and Indian deities that I picked up in KL which I keep thinking about giving a paint job; now you've inspired me I may give it a go.

Hi Geoff

As Malc says ...very original indeed ....and it goes to show you don't have to spend the mortgage to enjoy the hobby

Thanks for sharing

PS Incase anyone was wondering I do not look like this !

i km=now this is no place for a vehicle but it will have a couple of figures with it.I've done a bit more but have been doing other things including more work on a 1/35th Staghound armoured car which I started over a year ago, I know this is no place for a vehicle but it will have a couple of figures with it.

So here is the Budda with a few washes and a bit of detailing.

Thanks Nap,

The skin areas are gold leafed as it is a painted statue not a real person, I have given the areas a faint wash but am thinking of another one, still lots more to do.
