Hello there,
Well I thought it was time I put together a web site.
Only one problem for a computer illiterate like me
How the hell do you do it ???

I found a site, put together by some people who
claim "If you can send an E-mail, you can build a web site" and its free.

This I thought, is just what I want, I can send E-mails........Just

Anyway, I signed up and after much playing about appear to be getting there.

Please have a look http://www.freewebs.com/micronauts/

Hello Frank,

It looks nice, but the picture's don't load.
Maybe it is JAVA script that freewebsite use?? I don't know, but when you use Java more people have that problem.
check it out.

Marc.

Hi Frank

looking good; can see the gallery pics now but couldn't before.

One comment; the pics in the gallery are stretched, making them look taller; looks like the aspect ratio has been altered.

hi Frank,
very nice start for the website.just a lil comment; the green color of titles in MENU are hard to see because of the green background, especially the websalbum. IMHO a darker tone can make them more visible.
best regards

Hi Frank,

I was going to create my own web site, too, but even with some knowledge of HTML, it's too much work, not just to create it but also to update it on a regular basis. That's time that I could be spending more productively at the workbench, which is what I most enjoy. Besides there's already too many web sites out there to keep up with, so my own site would just be a drop in the bucket. Instead, I've decided to simply support bigger and better sites like Planet Figure (and I know folks like Gordy appreciate that!).

Hey Frank ,the site is looking excellent. I have ti agree though that you need better pictures. Take a look at my site maybe there's something you might like and want to introduce.BTW you can also add my site as a link please

Hi,
Thanks to every one for their encouragement and constructive
comments.

As I said I am a computer illiterate, but learning as I go
I have already realized that a freebie site has certain limitations
(ie) not sure if I can load thumbnails I shall in time upgrade and pay a
fee for more refinements.

Yes, the pictures got a bit arty (stretched) these are things I will resolve
in time.

The main thing for me, is showing what I do, not only for fellow
modellers. I have given the web address to lot of non modellers
based on "A picture being worth a thousand words"

Sites like Planet Figure IMHO are the life and soul of the online
community of this terrific hobby and my support of them is
assured

Stephen, I will be happy to add your site as a link thanks.

Thanks again, to every one for looking at my site (such as it is)

Frank

That's a very good beginning, Frank. The idea of building a site IMHO, is to get a message across. In your case, I believe you should concentrate on that. As you move along, you can build on the criticism recieved to improve the look and feel of the site.

I began my site a bit like the way you are now. I had no idea what I was doing, but I kept improving the site until I was semi-satisfied. Semi-satisfied? A rule of thumb is, no matter how improved your site will become, and how much your readers approve of your site, you'll never be satisfied. Guess it's the burden of the creator ;). As for learning the ropes, well, it takes time, but you'll learn the tricks of the trade nonetheless. Just keep at it.

Good Luck.

PS. Pay attention to spelling, vocabulary and grammar. A well written site keeps a reader's attention. ;)

Hi Francis,
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement.
You are absolutely right in what you say about getting a message
across.
A web site is a platform, an individual platform where thoughts,
expectations and aspirations can be expressed, in our case through
the creativity of miniature figures.

I took a look at your site, I found it both informative and inspirational.
