Dear fellow painters,

today I would like to present you a bust of the Greek manufacturer "Pathos Miniatures" which is obviously inspired by the character Jackson from the movie "Saving Private Ryan".
The resin bust is of a very good quality, perfectly casted and very detailed.

I have painted it with MC and Oils.

Before I show the pictures let me explain something, please:
The actor Barry Pepper is left-handed but the bust is carrying the rifle like a right-handed person. First I thought this was a manufacturers flaw or made to avoid copyright problems but the following screenshot shows that the position is correct:

Source: DVD "Saving Private Ryan", Dreamworks

This is due to the marching order: left row, muzzle to the outside.

The bust helmet comes without net. I made this one from fly screen.

What do you think, honestly?

I think you have made a nice job of painting this bust. The eyes are very piercing. I like what you did with the helmet net too. In my opinion the sculptor has made the hands too big - and the bulk and arrangement of the jacket and collar isn't right - but I guess it's not a copy of the film character but inspired by it.
Barry Pepper was great in this role, but I think he got a lot of flak for the bible quoting sharpshooter character being unoriginal. I liked it.
Cheers
Mat

Thanks for your kind words, Mat!
I agree with you abut the hands size. This was the first bust, Pathos sold. I think the proportions will become better with the next pieces.
Why shouldn't a sniper quote the bible repeatedly? The U.S. are full of strictly religious people using guns... OOOPS! Sorry! My second day here and I am already violating the rules - embarrassing!
Cheers
Ulf

OK, forget about it, pls. It wasn't at all meant as a serious political comment as I am fully aware that this would violate the forum rules.
