Dear fellow painters,

I would like to present you another one of my busts.

Frankly speaking I am not quite satisfied with this result, though it was not my first bust. Something seems to be wrong with the eyes. I guess I made the reflection spot too big. Perhaps you have another idea...

The bust can be shown with or without helmet. It is not necessary to glue the helmet so I made use of this opportunity and actually painted the hair of the redhead Damian Lewis with copper tones...

A good result and I agree with the eye catch light.

just a tip:
Try using a very fine brush with oil paint on, dip in a pull out quickly. You end up with a very thin "thread" of oil paint and then carfully place in the eye.

I promise I will neglect everything that could tempt a troll to capture this thread again.

Really? And yet here you go again Ulf, once again inviting a reaction by posting an unconstructive and provocative comment.

The "troll" you refer to from your other thread is in fact a long-standing member (10 years), is a regular poster, and with that record under his belt has credibility here.

You on the other hand have been a member here for all of one week, have a handful of posts to your name and as yet have little to no credibility.

So if this is your way of making friends and influencing people, you aren't doing very well so far.

Why not just stick to letting your work do the talking, leave out the "edgy" comments, and earn that credibility? Because from what I've seen so far, your painting is good enough to do that on its own.

Not bad at all, but as you said the "catch light" is a bit large and obscures some nice detail. I like to paint acrylics for eyes but use a little white oil paint for catch lights, that way it can be easily removed without ruining original paint. A tip given to me by a great painter. Nice work otherwise.

@Bob: Thank you very much! I will try your tip with the oil paint.

@Steve I: Damn! You're right.:blackeye: SCNR.:sorry: May I suggest that I remove my unappropriate sentence and you remove your comment after that?

@Steve II: Thank you! Well, I am in a very positive manner surprised. And I would like to shake the hand you reached me. Peace?

Cheers, Ulf
