G'day all, my latest work, Pegaso's 75mm Byzantine standard bearer 13th-14th Century. Painted in acrylics with oil and ink washes on the armour and other metals. This is my first crack at painting scrollwork freehand and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I did a fair bit of practice first, by sitting down with a pencil and sketchpad and a few books on Early Christian/ Byzantine art including a great book on the Book of Kells I found at a second hand shop, then spent a few hours drawing out various designs before summoning enough courage to put paint to brush. Warm congrats, I love the metallics, the face and the freehand work I think is great.
Cheers,
Nicolae

Excellent brushwork. Very well done. If this is your first attempt at scroll work, you have done extremely well. I wish my feeble attempts looked as good.
