I'm looking for a digital camera that will take better pictures of my kits/busts than my iphone7. Did I mention it has to be insanely cheap? I have benn looking at used Nikon Coolpix on Ebay. They are very reasonably priced but are they any good? Does anyone have any experience with one of these? Any better suggestion in the same price range?

Bought myself an old Fuji Finepix S4240 'Bridge' camera from Fleabay just before Christmas and have been very impressed with it so far. I bought it specifically for figures and decided what my budget was so I was mainly interested in condition. I haven't played about with the settings too much so far, but here's a close up of a 54mm figure taken with it to give you an idea of quality (using a rest for the camera because I couldn't be faffed with getting the tripod out) No adjustments made post picture.
Cheers

Coolpix is a good one but if you want to run for taking pictures of details, you need a cam where you cn change the lenses, in fact meaning also you can add macro extension rings

But again wich Coolpix ? A300 B500 ?

Now you can use something realy affordable Sony Cybershot DSC T77
look here for 50€ 60€ you have it

Here a picture using the Sony, natural light on the window sil inside, no additional artificial light, no flash

another good looking 2nd hand purchase:

Of course, depth of field is always the enemy of figure photography: a long exposure with a small aperture will help.

There's also a page with advice re lighting somewhere amongst these pages (sorry, couldn't find it with a simple search).

I forgot to say ; for us who want to take pictures of our figurines, what we wish is to take pictures as close as it is possible

For the Sony DSC T77,
Normal Focus Range: ( distance between lens and subject )
8 cm to Infinity
3.1 in to Infinity
