Hello All,
I am keen to know when The Cameronians dress uniform badges of rank, and the trim on the swallow wings etc of bugler/drummers changed from black on a rifle green edging to silver.
I can see the black was in existence around 1890 but by 1914 just prior to the outbreak of WW1 it was silver, but can someone indicate a more definite date.
Many thanks.

Hi Bob

I have checked my copy of dress regs ...showing as black lacing in the 1900 regs

There are pics of the band Sgt/ Major ...with silver just prior to 1914

Perhaps both styles were in use at same time

Interesting question will keep looking

Out of interest why such a specific date are you depicting a particular uniform

Hi Nap,
I am getting painted up Martin Tabony's Cameronians Pipes and Drums. While the figures are in development became aware of the changes to the bugler/drummers swallow wings and the badges of rank, from black on rifle green to silver. The pipers I believe in both uniforms had according to some illustrations I've seen, wore silver buttons on their cuffs. So keen to know when the change over happened. At some point may display the P&D alongside other Cameronians, so keen to get details correct. (There are in exstence pictures by a well known illustrator with mistakes, especially with the trews, and the introduction of a non existent vertical white stripe at the fly).
Yours aye,
Lightbob
