Hi,

I need to order some more paint brushes and would appreciate your suggestions. I paint figurines with oils over enamels and the brushes I want are for detail work.
I originally used W&N Series 7 then changed to Kalish Kolinsky sable spotter brushes which I really like. However, I have had no success ordering on-line from them so thought I would try another brand.
I have Googled a bit and found www.rosemaryandco.com brushes which seem to be well priced, so I may give them a try.
Can you recommend anyone else that supplies good quality brushes by mail order?

Many thanks,

Pat

I use W/N Mini's that I buy from Dick Blick art supplies in Chicago. I have ordered many times from them since Bob Knee told me about them. Good service and I have never had to return a brush.

Here is a link to the brushes I use for detail........and they are on a 37% to 55% off sale.

Dick Blick Mini's

I've been pretty happy dealing with Dick Blick too. Cheap Joe's Art Stuff is another pretty good outfit to deal with. If you want to see it before you buy it, I think that Leow and Cornell synthetics from Michael's are a pretty good deal if you look for a sale.

Brushes

Pat ,
First of all WELCOME to the planet

Brushes as you already know buy the best you can afford and I heartily reccomend Rosemary and co her service is excellent and what she knows about brushes is amazing , she has a great catalogue and will answer all questions quickly .

Hope all in well in France and getting back to the painting regards to all , are you missing Romsey ?

Best wishes ( Kev Peart BRISTOL BMSS/Bugle Call)

Dick Blick Mini's

Glad you posted that link...my most recent brushes from Michael's, even though they were some of the best in the store, have begun to fold over at the tip. I just ordered a couple of the minis from Dick Blick.

Many thanks for your ideas & suggestions!

Thank you, everyone, for your messages.

There are a good number of options to choose from. I kind of like the idea of ordering some brushes from Rosemary's, as the prices are good and Kev is happy with them. (And yes, Kev, I miss the Romsey club, although I met up with some of the members at a pub over christmas. They have put some of my builds on their website (http://www.romseymodellers.co.uk/pages/Builds/builds.htm), two figurines so far and there may be another two or three more to follow later).

The DaVinci brushes from Jacksonart also look to be good value, Kevin.

The W&N ones seem quite a bit more expensive (even though they are in a sale) so I think I will try the cheaper ones first of all - I'll let you know what I think of them when they arrive! Being in France, I would have to pay VAT unfortunately.

Work in progress at the moment are the Four Musketeers - the 54mm ones from Andrea. They are nearly finished and don't look too bad. I have been away from figurine painting for some time and in the process of going through the learning curve again have tried out one or two different techniques. The main thing is that I am thoroughly enjoying it, although I shall be building a wingy thing next as it is wanted for a magazine review.

I'll post some piccies of the musketeers once I have figured out how to do it!

Thanks once again,

Pat

You would have to pay England's Vat if you ordered from Bromley?
