Greetings.
This is my first thread in completed works. The subject is Capt MERCER RHA 1815. 200 mm by Mitches Military Models.
The figure was painted with vallejo acrylic and model air paints. I have to say this is the best figure I have ever painted. (God help the rest I hear you shout.) I enjoyed painting it along with the research gave me great pleasure and that my friends is what its all about.

Please feel free to comment, there is nothing I can do with this one but any constructive criticism will help me move forward with the next on.
Thanks
Mick

What stand's out for me is the neatness of the painting(y).
Maybe as you go along with your painting you could start adding shadow/highlight's.
Otherwise a very nicely painted figure.

Lovely work Mick. A definite labour of love.(y) Crickey! how steady is your hand with the 'Braiding'. ? ..very clean.:wideyed:

You have me thinking now! ... Never a good thing.:D

Well done.

Mark.

Ralph, Mark & Graham,
Thanks for your kind encouragement and advise It was a big old beast which in itself has its pros & cons. I did learn a lot with this one and hopefully thing will get better.
Thanks Mick
PS I get worried when Squirrels start thinking:nailbiting:

A very nice and tidy figure, great paint work for a first thread.
Keep em coming. One problem though, I fell over twice looking at some of your pic's ;)

Regards
Bob

I think this is great mate.

On your next one, (which I bet you've already started), I would love to see you having a go
at pushing the shading.

It's actually a brave step, when you do this for the first time,
but you will see the benefit revealed as your paint dries..
Keep going mate, neat crisp painting is the way to go.

Paul

Hi.
Thanks for your comments and tips.
Roger . Thanks for looking in. I'd never heard of Mercer prior to painting this figure, so if nothing else I have learnt something.

Bob. Thanks your lucky to have only fallen over twice. I fell over eight times thats why the pictures are P....... The camera has a mind of its own, just as well one of us has.

Paul. Next two are out of the box but not started yet. Yes I agree about shading.I have tried here but I dont think the photos have done it justice. I find it a fine art. To much and it looks a mess, not enough and might as well not have bothered but I do agree I need to work on this aspect, As my old school reports said ' Could do better' so I will work on it on my next two. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Smudger Brian? Thanks Yes I'm pleased with the braiding it came out well. I have learnt a great deal on this figure. Think hopefully will get better.

Thanks again Mick

Thanks Andrew.
I have seen Marks tutorial before and could never get my head around it as the pictures never seemed to be in sync with the explanation, I have just looked at it again and all fell into place. Must of had my idiot hat on before. Thanks for the pointer, noted.

Also thanks to all that have posted likes but not made any comments, appreciated.

Mick
