I like this - about time the Senior Service was modelled. Sitting up to your knees in mud and being shelled must have been hell on earth, I suspect the North Atlantic and Arctic conveys came a close second.

I agree Mike, it's a very nice and long overdue change. My Granda was on minesweepers in WW1 and a quote I saw said.... It was like going over the top everyday!

Cheers for the encouragement, guys! I'm supposed to be working on a large commission at the moment, but this one keeps taking my concentration!! I have almost completed the bust itself, I am just starting to get the binoculars roughed out. There appear to be several types in service, so Im going to take a flyer on which ones to do!

I intend to do a facsimile of the new medal on the plinth - what is the general consensus?

Bootneck - I am planning for it to become commercial, watch this space!
Richie - Yes, Ill be at Telford on Saturday, Ill bring it with me then you can have a look!
Mike - thanks for that; I hope I've done these brave men justice.
Steve - many thanks, see you at a show soon!

Ill post more pics soon, thanks again

The sailors on the Arctic convoys should be entitled to the 1939 - 45 Star, Atlantic Star, Arctic Star, War Medal and Defence Medal. If you include the Arctic Star, you will exclude the crews who were on convoy duty etc. in the North Atlantic. I'm looking forward to a full length figure in due course.

Mike

Thanks for that, Mike. I shall think of something more suitable so as not to exclude anyone. Ive got a full figure in mind, just roughed out at the moment, I will post something when it looks a little more recognisable!

cheers
