Were the shakos of the 3rd Hussars in any other colors, or were they only red?

My sources indicate that the Elite Company of the Regiment had red shakos, and the other companies wore black.

I think these are from Gordon’s own range, like the Skinners Horse bust Kev, not on Mitches site as such. If you contact him direct he’ll probably send some pictures. Hope that helps.

Thanks for noticing, Jeff.

I’m using artists’ oils for my flesh areas. After I finish painting the flesh tones to my satisfaction, I allow them to dry for 3-4 hours. Then I come back and stipple in a little beard stubble using an old, cut down paint brush and Mars Black paint. I apply only a tiny amount of paint to the brush, and then wipe most of that off on a paper towel. It is essential that the brush only have a tiny amount of paint on it, or you’ll make a complete mess of your previous work.

This is not that hard to do in this scale if you work slowly and make sure that you load your brush with a minuscule amount of paint. I hope that this explanation helps.
