Hi all, this is a mock-up of the Cherokee bust. I have carved the stock of the flintlock from wood, with many details to add, the barrel is not the right diameter, just to show how it may look. I need to do some resculpting of the hand and also the shirt/elbow area to get the flintlock sitting correctly. I may do this as a SBS, but this may be slow as we are now into the Fly fishing season and the lakes beckon. comments welcome. Les

THIS LOOKS INTERESTING .
Carls stuff does take a bit of extra work, but when you put it altogether it
really does come alive, this looks superb (y)(y)

Les a great idea and nice work on the flintlock, the positioning looks very natural and well balanced . (y)

Cheers Ken

He's looking good so far Les!
The rifle is great so far.

I would run the rifle along the forearm, into the crook of the elbow. To make it more comfortable to carry and slightly more natural looking.

I think if you make rifle to completion with, trigger and guard and mechanism etc, it will be easier to accomodate the hand around all the furniture. Because as it is, his hand is just about where the trigger guard would be.

But it looks fabulous so far mate!

Hi Les , thats some great work you have done on the flintlock rifle making it out of real wood , but I have to agree with Carl were you have it positioned . You need to have it resting in the elbow as this is some wieghty piece he is holding , it needs to fall about the first magor crease up from the wrist . If you look at old pictures of anyone holding a rifle this way it is always supported on the lower part of the arm .
Keep at it this will make a unique piece .

Love your modification Les, really great idea and makes the piece just so much different. Wonderful job so far on his flintlock, superb idea.

Hi guy's, thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
Carl, Chippy.. the pics only show mock up, I will resculpt hand/forearm and alter fit at elbow etc, The Flintlock is still being worked on, I have all the hardware to add yet and I may add a little to the length, I feel it's just a tad short. more soon Les
