Carl, to steal a line from great Obi Wan, "The Vision is strong in this one".
The pose is heroic, and both the flag and the face will be seen in one glance - no looking up to the top of the pole, then back down to the man. You've forced the perspective and framed the scene. I love groundwork and scenery that sets the context and helps convey the story, but none of that is needed here. A simple base, a couple tufts of grass - the story is the man and his flag. Well done, Sir!
If pressed, I'll admit to a little trepidation on this one. This sculpt deserves a painter's very best effort. One must find a way to appease the patrons of pigment and sable before having a go at this one. The challenge is formidable, but the rewards . . .
 
I absolutely love the stance on this figure,Carl me old buddy...You always come up with another spectacular pose for your figures !!! Very very well thought out as you say to frame the colours,this really has been planned correctly....Lovely !!!
