A couple of pictures of a Cavalier bust I sculpted recently. I wanted to get some expression into the face. He's in Super Sculpy, with detail in Duro and Magic Sculp.

Robert, great sculpting, really like the facial expression , laughing cavalier springs to mind;) not too sure about the sash, IMHO a little too much going on and somehow doesn't quite look natural.

Cheers Ken

Robert,
very good sculpting. The facial expression is very good, and the feathers you sculpted would have been a challenge! Congrats on pulling two of the harder types of sculpting (and painting!) off.

I agree with ken; The sash has two things to it. The first is that some of the creasing (drapery; how fabric behaves under gravity and so forth) looks a bit odd. Check out images of togas for an example of how fabric may behave when worn over one shoulder.

The shadows of the sash seem a bit dark in some places where they shouldn't really be. Perhaps tone down the shadows a touch where the fabric rides up on the shoulder, will distract the viewer less.

Still, that is a great face, full of character! (particularly the laugh lines around his eyes, neat touch!)

Thanks for sharing

Thank you all for your comments.
I looked at lots of reference for the sash. I think it's my painting. Since this photo it has been re-painted again, reducing the shadow and adding some more highlights on the shoulder. I'm still working on it though!

Hello Rob
Absolutely infectious smile, soon as I saw it I was grinning like a .....well like a laughing cavalier.
Great sculpt of a hard to capture expression, very well done.
Regards
Derek
