Bought some years ago the last kit from that figure but I forgot who had made him. Perhaps someone here know it. It is a special one because he was sculpted only using archaeological results. It is a celt living between 500 and 600 years BC in the so called Hallstadt-Period D

At the moment he is to "clean" and so some thing left to do

Like, the research..you term it fanstasy, I say it’s we have preconceived ideas of “Celt”. Which ignores and puts down the richness and variety of Celtic culture. By digging for accuracy you celebrate the roots of European culture which have mainly been overshadowed by classical Roman and Greek ...good job..

Hi Ulrich,

I think that it's an old figure from Shane Terry. I vaguely remember seeing it on the MedRom Forum some years ago - but can't find the thread right now. Maybe if you ask the good people there? They are most helpful.

Karl, you are right. As I see the name I remember who it was. And I got it over the MedRom Forum. Thanks

And thanks all for your comments

Wow! I hardly ever come to this site anymore, what a great surprise to see one of my pieces. This one was a very limited production, I think I only sold about a dozen. It was a great project that I could not have done without the research provided by the Trauner brothers (I hope I got their last name right, it has probably been close to 15 years since I sculpted that piece). Looks good, Ulrich.

Shane. You remember correct. It must be Hans and Erik Trauner. I have photos from your painted figure and have always a look at them when I try to paint the figure. It is a great and (because historically correct) unusual version of a celt.

Thank you, Ulrich
It was always my main intent to create the most authentic Hallstatt Celt possible. Looking at it today there are a few things I'd change, but overall I am still happy with the final product.

Wonderful to get this nice surprise from Ulrich's post Shane.
I took these photos a few years back of my version, done soon after you sent me a copy of this fellow. Neat to see this specialist project revived.
Compliments of season to everyone here.

Historical accuracy being one of the things I try to achieve most in my work I cannot but totally love this one.Excellent subject and painting.

Oda.

Nearly ready I think. Some corrections because I found some little mistake on the photo and then something new to paint :)
