The ancient Aurora kit is a rough approximation of a Centurion and is a kit very much "of its time" and very toy-like.

If that suits the purpose you have in mind, if accuracy is not an issue and if you just want a simple build, have at it (if you can find one). But if you're looking for something accurate (or at least close to accurate), it's probably best avoided. Either way, as far as I'm aware it's the only game in town for a Cent in 1/48.

The best Cent kits currently available are without a doubt those in 1/35 from AFV Club, of which Carl links to the Aussie one. There are also two Brit versions - the Mk 5/2 (kit no. 35122 which I think is currently OOP) and the Mk. 5 with dozer blade, as used in Korea and which is still available (kit no. 35160). If you don't want the blade, just leave it off. If it's specifically a British version you want, the Aussie and the various Israeli versions (as nice as they are) are probably best avoided as they have different engine decks, guns and various other external gubbins.

The main drawback of the AFV Club kits is that they don't come with the characteristic canvas mantlet cover. To squeeze an extra few quid out of the modeller, the crafty buggers in AFV Club's marketing department decided to release these separately.

Academy also did a Cent in 1/35 back in the '80s, now OOP I believe and with issues such as open sponsons. Ditto the Tamiya release that dates back to the early '70s and was originally motorised, like most of their kits of that era.

Other than that, your options are the Airfix 1/72 release (probably too small) and Tamiya's 1/25 (definitely too big).

HTH,

Hmmm not sure what happened I thought I had replied, but ty Steve and Mark. I went for the 1/48 one as it doesn't have to be perfect. All will be revealed in due course ;)
