... got this figure a couple of weeks ago from Graham, and just I wanted to share some pictures to show just what a quality figure this is. Just opening the box and having a peek at the contents, not an in depth review.

The great David Grieve sculpted and released this one for the first time in ... 1993 (already 19 yrs ago ! time flies !), and I personally think it's still the best figure of a Highlander at Waterloo around, and certainly the most historically accurate one.
Back in 1993 this figure was cast in white metal, and at 110mm high (it's the same scale as an Alpine 1/16th figure) it was very heavy ...
10 years ago or so, Debra Raymond purchased the masters, and started casting the body, arms, etc everything except the small parts in good quality cream-coloured resin; and this year, Graham Scollick who is now owner of the masters has started casting them in the more and more familiar high quality grey resin (think it's the same resin as Stormtroopers etc).

So, this is an excellently sculpted figure, even though sculpted in 1993 it still can compete with the very best in 2012, this is a sculpture as good as any; and now the casting and the material is also brougt up to modern 2012 standards. Conclusion : this is a top quality figure, and if you like Highlanders, then this is one you should get.

I have also added a picture I took of a page of Bill Horan's Masterclass book, in which he explained his painting & modelling techniques in detail for the first time. Guess which figure The Great Bill chose to demonstrate his magic ...

I agree with you Johan, the quality of this figure is superb that I might just add it to my to do 'box'. Furthermore, I recently bought the Royal Horse Artillery officer circ 1815 off Graham, this is also a quality figure, and linking that with Graham's exceptional customer service, in that he makes you aware of any problems with your order and informs you that your order has been despatched, so your not left in a state of 'limbo'! makes it a pleasure doing business with him.

Totally agree about the quality of this and all David Grieves Figures....Can't anybody coax him out of retirement?????? one of the finest sculpterures(is that a word) ever and to grace the scene and personally responsible along with Moz for the large hole in my Bank account............................

I have the Orginial metal one from DG and have always wanted to do it since I saw Bill Horans version in Atlanta many years ago. The weight of the figure kept me from doing it but just maybe if I got a resin copy I just might be able to get myself back to this wonderful figure and the hobby I have been away from. Now let's see what the boss might say........

Being a Faversham lad and joining the RM in 88 it was an honour that David came and saw me last weekend at Euro., David was Gravesham. The first thing I did was give him a cast, and he approved. It is not a secret as there were a few people about, the story of the 24th is correct, 90mm, and david IS coming back, he spoke to me in person and is also helping me with a few things. which blew me away with his kindness.
With what works of art I am not sure but, DFG, hopefully is back on the cards and what a great artist we have back. I would like to show pictures of his ( CGS) masters but no section to show, metal and engineered, please message or email CGS and this will surely get David moving as he was very humble with the following he has had since away.
Best wishes
Graham

Better get my bank manager onside if Mr G is returning- but it will be a small price to see some great figures!

I really hope that David does make an over due return. I have a good number of his figures and would look forward to adding to my collection.
Thanks for the heads up Graham.
Cheers,
Keith
