... got this figure a couple of weeks ago from Graham, and just I wanted to share some pictures to show just what a quality figure this is. Just opening the box and having a peek at the contents, not an in depth review.
The great David Grieve sculpted and released this one for the first time in ... 1993 (already 19 yrs ago ! time flies !), and I personally think it's still the best figure of a Highlander at Waterloo around, and certainly the most historically accurate one.
Back in 1993 this figure was cast in white metal, and at 110mm high (it's the same scale as an Alpine 1/16th figure) it was very heavy ...
10 years ago or so, Debra Raymond purchased the masters, and started casting the body, arms, etc everything except the small parts in good quality cream-coloured resin; and this year, Graham Scollick who is now owner of the masters has started casting them in the more and more familiar high quality grey resin (think it's the same resin as Stormtroopers etc).
So, this is an excellently sculpted figure, even though sculpted in 1993 it still can compete with the very best in 2012, this is a sculpture as good as any; and now the casting and the material is also brougt up to modern 2012 standards. Conclusion : this is a top quality figure, and if you like Highlanders, then this is one you should get.
I have also added a picture I took of a page of Bill Horan's Masterclass book, in which he explained his painting & modelling techniques in detail for the first time. Guess which figure The Great Bill chose to demonstrate his magic ...
