Some progress since my last post. Still a fair amount of work to do, mainly the hat and the boots, along with touch-ups and fine tuning here and there. Also, the dark blue areas dont look very good in the pics because they are a bit shiny, but I'll fix that later (hopefully) with some dullcote. Thanks for looking.

Jason,

I recommend you find an alternative to the Dullcote. Although I have used it myself in the past and probably will again in the future, it does have a tendency to yellow over time. This is not a problem for many colors, but for colors like white and blue, it can be a real letdown to see them color shift over the years.

If you use a good acrylic clear flat coat, you can avoid this. I hope this helps!

Oh yeah, excellent paintjob, as always!!

Thanks for the encouraging words guys!

Mike G. - can you recommend an acrylic flat coat? brush on or spray? and will it dry dead matte like dullcote? If you had a brush-on in mind that would be great, as I'm going to have to mask the cuirass before I spray the dullcote.

Jason,
Try Polly S Flat coat. It brushes on really well and is great stuff .
Another alternative is Tamiya flat coat . This works really well through an airbrush,
(I know you prefer a brush on method)thinned with water or Isopropyl Alcohol. This dries dead flat.

Jason,

I don't do much painting these days. But many years ago I used a Polly S flatcoat that worked pretty good. You might also try mixing Tamiya flattening agent with whatever clear acrylic paint you have on hand. Others use this flattening agent in Future floor polish which works really nice once you have figured out the correct proportions to mix.
