Some time ago since Piqui & me prepared this scene, but process was so complicated in every point (even photography) so the post was delayed a bit until today.

Charon is a special miniature, with a kind different and hard planning, thought to be seen in pictures, a more restricted format as usuall in modelling. This means that we had to work in different ways than we did in the past so It was a challenge and an extra difficulty.

I know most enthusiasts don't like to see miniatures with an edited background, but Charon is more than a figurine, a painting in 3 dimensions. When i started to paint it I did thinking that scene wouldn't be complete without it, hope you can allow me that license.

Looking for a material angle of itself, I had to do the painting work and the wave clone in transparent resin. None of this things were easy. Water treatment was done using an sculpted wave done by piqui with bodies ("souls") floating and cppy that with transparent water was difficult as those elements were just too blury, I tried to fix it with colour and light effects but nothing seems to be enought. Figurines painting was complex as I used a very dark atmosphere to get more drama so in hand scene looks very dark und a little undefined without a background that fix it.

I think the whole scene is a work that i'm very happy of at least when I can see it complete after so many time, but i need to be critic with myself and say that there are lot of things that could be better.

Amazing composition. Great choice of colours. The back ground works well and is fine. The water looks real but I don't see and "souls" in it. Perhaps some close-ups or the water and the figures too? I would like to see a closer view of Charon too. The harsh highighting on the boat make it look wet and storm tossed. Congrats.

This is a beautiful scene... the background in the pics just adds to the dark, ominous atmosphere... it doesn't detract from the scene at all.
The sculpt is awesome!!! The water effects are mindblowing as seen best in the WIP shots

Hi Arsies,
Congratulations to you and Piqui, a beautiful depiction of the ferryman and instantly recognisable(y) Love the atmospheric background setting too. Score out of 10 an easy eleven.

I'm a Cursed Monkey also, pity it's not with that talent though;)
cheers

Wow i'm very grateful for the welcome you gave to this scene, I was little nervous as it's so different from a "more standart" piece, thank you so much guys :)

Unbelievable!
It looks amazing, very well executed piece of art, the water looks very good indeed.
Work to be proud of.

Alex.

Fantastic scene! Well done(y)(y)(y) all of the elements used compliment each other.
I wish this was available as a commercial piece. I don't see any need to improve this, it's excellent as it stands. Tom
