Raquettes looking good Malc, worth the extra time and effort you’re investing. Looking forward to seeing him progress.

Hi Malc, these may help with the 'border' (actually the cords looping back on themselves: seems they are technically knotted rather than woven).

I broke my brain tracing the route of the ref shot before I remembered that I'd seen the French version at No4 o_O

The two colour breakdown makes it a bit easier to follow (I hope).

Of course its all made more complex by the fact that there are three cords, not just one (try modelling that ) .
These also show the 'full-set' of cords, and in situ (repro).

This is getting to be a bit of an obsession with me, but hope these help not hinder, best of luck (y)

Hi Neil

Thanks for the info, seeing it laid out like that gives me ideas, to late for this one but obsession is taking over me as well so colpack maybe done differently......

Depends if I think the effort is worth it.

Depends if I think the effort is worth it.

What I'm thinking of doing is making one 'perfect-ish' one as a master, then using to make a mould (probably just that multi-use BlueStuff to start off with) so I can produce as/when. For me this would most likely be 1/12th scale (I'm still locked into my Airfix conversions and scratch-builds), but could try for something between that and 1/10th (ie 1/11th) as the difference would be minimal.

I think the sizes would have varied slightly as early C19th mass production/standardisation was pretty rudimentary* (and perhaps differed between eg dolman cords vs shakos/czapkas etc).

Maybe some 3D whizz-kid will take on the job of scanning a full size one then offering spares across the scales?

Anyway... I'll look fwd to see developments (y)

*reminds me of one of my old QA teaching sessions when I talked about the C17th Venetian ordinance/shipyards introducing the idea of standardised components to make building/repairing their fleet easier :)

A good clean up there Malc ...are you using magisculpt to rework?

What have you done on the colpack ?

Following with interest

Have fun @ the bench

Nap

Hi Nap, I will use Miliput and green stuff as they are to hand, I have never used magisculpt so may get some and see how I get on.

As for Colback need to remove the flounders, probably start that today.

Gosh that is some surgery you have been performing and still continuing with.... Watching your progress with interest.
Melanie

this is how the Colback looked after the braiding on the front was removed.

Nice project, I missed the start due to not joining until last year, I'll be interested in how you put the chest braiding back.

Cheers Simon
