Along with other newcomers to this site I would like to offer my latest as an opening. It is à Chasseur a cheval de la garde from Métal Modeles.

I am a 43 year old French Canadian from the Ottawa region. I've dabbled in models all my life but started painting figure about 5 years ago. I paint mainly in oils. Please feel free to critique as none will be taken as offence, the whole point of posting on such sites is to get the opinion of other and learn from one's mistakes or shortcomings.

Thank you all.
Jean.

Hi Jean and thank you for sharing your pics with us.

To be honest there's nothing much I can say except "bravo" and keep up the good work.

If I was to be realnit picky, I say the metal work on the rifle barrel might be a little bit too silvery, but that's a very minor detail on an otherwise beautiful figure.

Thank you all for the comments, much appreciated.

Tony: I painted the gun barrel with a mix of Games workshop Boltgun metal and Black. the photos can't really catch this very well and the barrel is duller then the strappings. I am not sure however if the later ones should not be painted a Brass colour since my web searchs could not produce a good picture of the gun itself.

A really really good piece Jean. I really do like this.
Very well rendered all around.
Your attention to the groundwork really pays off, it's not as simple as it first looks.
Kepp 'em coming mate!
