Hi Guys, This is the first post of my work on Planet Figure, after some persuasion from Tommi. This is my first attempt at a flat or Demi Ronde, having seen Conny Schultz demonstrate at Antwerp last year I bought a Metal Models figure and this is the result. I really enjoyed painting in this medium and will definately have another go. I would welcome your comments, I consider myself a very average painter and am usually blown away by the quality of work on this forum-perhaps with this post I can encourage some of the other figure painters at a similar skill level to have a go at posting-I won't feel so alone then!?

Keith, its very good, nicely finished.

As for beginners, the veterans on here swear to the fact they still regard themselves as beginners, just they have been beginners for a lot longer then some of us!

Thanks for sharing, hope to see more of your work.

Cheers

Excellent painting Keith. Welcome to the world of flats and figures.

I agree with that Jamie.......I've been a beginner for 30 some years. When I stop being a beginner I'll probably quit and take up knitting.

Hi Keith
Very impressive piece for the first one, colours look great especially the green blend on the trousers. I have yet to pluck up the courage to try one of these, if it comes out half as good as this I will be happy, great effort, hope to see more of your work here soon, like the other guys say, still learning with every figure even after nearly 30 years.
Cheers

Yep. Nice work. Keep it up! My first flat is in a trash dump somewhere under tons of well deserved debris. If it looked as good as yours I would still have it.

Hi Keith

Great first try at one of these very hard figures, I know the way of using orange to give reds a highlight is quite correct, but in this case it looks in the pics as if there have gone to far, maybe taking the shadows darker rather than making the red lighter, may give you a better impression of the colour, give it more dark green in the shadow. I know its hard but you really have got to give it some contrast to give the impression of roundness without loosing the colour too much. Glad to see you have given it a bloody good go though........

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your words of encouragement!

Dave I agree with you 100% it is the part that I struggled most with and the pictures really accentuate the orange. The greens went well but the blends on the red were a real challenge-thanks for the tip.
