A very fasinating story Adrian. Wonderful ending all round, had there been more of it world could be a better place. Love that they became family friends.
My father told me that two members of his family who had emigrated, came face to face on a ACW battlefield.
Recognised one another and went past or to another fight, most likely the chap next to them. Both survived but were far apart in ideas so never were friends again.
Would like to trace this but sadly my father has passed and with him the story.
