Got my sums wrong Mark it's 52cm - about 20 inches

, .. Granted that's long! (A great central piece though):D.

Perhaps you are right in thought. However, I do feel that a 'Hasler & Sparks' rendition would be a viable future project. Yes, the bow and stern, would require clipping down to create the vision and being compact enough to pull it off.

Although to me one paddler, seems wrong in feel. Its like 'Sunday lunch', without gravy!!

Highest regards,

Mark.

Hi Gordon.

I believe you are correct not to over complicate the model with too much equipment. As posed he is enroute to the raid and all equipment would be stored inboard.
I would be interested in seeing the V shaped piece to see how it alters the dynamics of the canoe. I believe it would be visible on the length of hull portrayed.
Regarding the cap badge I don't think it would be too difficult to separate the crown & lion (Dog in a Basket) from the globe & laurels & with a bit of heat straighten out the top of the crown to form an arch.

Many thanks for producing a very interesting character figure.
Peter.

These are pics of the triangular section and the other parts.

It is a niggle to not have the right badge. Maybe we can scratch build around it.

Hi Gordon.
The breakwater looks good and in my opinion should be fitted. Looking at the shape of the other bits I would say it represents the magnetic compass and should sit behind the breakwater.

Hello Pete, this is Cath.
I am sat with Graham now and have watched this thread, my twin brother was Bugle Major Portsmouth.
You are correct that a Officer wears a split cap badge, but it is not an officers badge as an appointment in the RM also wears the same, ie Drum Major/bugle/provost
Graham did met Bill and speaks highly of him as a gentleman with nothing to prove.
Always here Cath( husband and brother RM)
We are working with CTC now for bronze Kings Squad pieces that are viable and a price a lad can take home.
He speaks highly also of you, I remember packing the box, late, the book :)

Hi Cath & Graham.
Many thanks for the additional information & trust the Bandies to get in on the act! Always loved the additions to their plates to show the divisions,POW feathers,White Rose and of course the flaming grenade ect.You are quite correct regarding the split badge not been unique to officers as I believe Warrent ranks currently wear a split badge.
WO1 wears the officers version with a silver globe & WO2 wears a gilt badge.
I'm not sure about the WWII years.

Great news about the King Squad figure and I hope to have a word with Graham at Euro about it.

That box! I can honestly tell you I was blown away when it arrived & Grahams generosity. I still look at both the book & the bits and I kid you not think about it very fondly. Thank you again.

Looking forward to Euro and a beer with Graham & his dad,boy did his dad keep me entertained last year with his stories. Happy days.

Apologies to everybody for briefly hijacking this thread.

Peter.
