This bust from Mitches Military Models is based on Col. Edmund Munro played by Maurice Roeves in the 1992 film "The Last of the Mohicans".

The bust comes in one piece and has the usual pouring marks and the odd seam line to remove but nothing difficult to clean up, then I washed and primed him.
Started with the face as normal using Artist’s oils
I then started to block in the rest of the tunic.
I used Vallejo acrylics so the prefix to paint numbers will be MC for Modelcolor and MA for Modelair.
Before I started the blocking in I used a thinned MC926/033 Red which I applied to the creases and arm folds of the tunic, then a coat of thinned MC957/031 Flat Red was applied over the tunic and waistcoat ONLY in the required areas as I find that reds are a difficult colour to cover without it bleeding through the covering colour. This does take quite a time all the cutting in but well worth the effort. The same applies with the facing colour on the tunic turn backs and the collar, for this I used a mix of MA033 Ochre and MA027 Light Brown to give a muted orange shades as it looks in the film, the regimental facing colour is for an orange. The white stock around the neck was given a coat of MC883/152 Silver Grey then when dry the highlights picked out carefully in White. The wig was given a very thin coat of MA053 Dark Seagreen and the ribbon are the back a diluted coat of MC995/167 German Grey.
Next the braid and lacings blocking in. A mix of MC983/143 Flat Earth and MA027 was used and again cut in carefully, this was also used for the buttons. The sash was given the same treatment as the tunic using thinned MC926/033 Red before a diluted mix of the Red and MC957 Flat Red was applied. The Gorget at the neck was then painted using a very thinned coat of MA053 Dark Seagreen. This was now left to dry overnight.
Now for basically the final steps.
To bring the silky look to the braids and lacing I used MA033 Ochre with docrafts Pearl Medium and carefully applied it, I added a touch of Flat Earth to the mix for the buttons. The Gorget was give a coat of the Pearl Medium avoiding the crest. If you get the medium mix where it shouldn’t be then quick get it off using a clean moist brush. The last thing I did was to give the tunic a thinned coat of MC817/026 Scarlet.
