In the last stages now of this project, just working on the backdrop and foreground for this piece.
Its been an enjoyable piece to paint and from my favourite battle / campaign as well.
for the backdrop I am still using part of the brick wall but not the one I posted earlier in this project,i have also opted for a foreground depicting part of a barricade,i thought this would be very appropriate for the piece as on the evening of the 17th june it was the job of the engineers and pioneers to build barracades in and around hougomount to slow up the French attacks on the chateau.
It was always my intension to add part of the apron to the bust, this was a distinguishing feature of the pioneers, however the bust is just as beautiful without it,so its down to the modeler if he wishes to add it or not.
The bust itself was sculpted by Stuart Hale at Stormtroopers and a very impressive job he has done of it as well, all the parts are cast in grey resin with minimal clean up and filling required, parts are very nicely cast and go together very well.
I finished the bust in oils over acrylics with dark star metalics added for the buttons and crossbelt plate.
