I just saw today , he's leaning to starboard ...dramatically . I attempted to " bend him" back but it seems solid . This is the whole figure and it's the horses legs that are bending .
I imagine there was a steel peg in two of the horses legs for support but now I'm not so sure .
Has anyone else had this problem ? How did they solve it ?

Hi Paul and welcome-emoji 1.gif

I have had this with Almond Sculptures but never with Poste Militaire.
Is it an original Ray Lamb or a Bonapartes reissue?

Bill

The original Orleans pair were cast in such high quality alloy it was almost steely.
Did them both together as a gift for a relative 20 years ago and neither shows any sign of fatigue.
Suggest you remove the figure and then bend the buckled legs carefully into place. Construct a small bush or stump around a brass or steel rod, bend at 90 degrees and epoxy into a hole drilled into the raised hoof on the side prone to collapse.
A little care disguising the connection and it should look pretty natural.
Cheers

Thanx for quick replies. The figure is genuine Post Mil ...from early 90s. Kept in a glass case
normal temps. As you can see any dismantling would ruin the figure. The only thing I can think of is to make a padded grip for the hind quarters and put it in a wood vice then physically pull the figure back to shape and hope it just goes . But it seems solid right now .
If there's any antimony in there it will snap. Even if I get it back how do prevent the same thing happening again ? Why me ! Why me !

I think I may have solved this. I've clamped the whole thing in my wood vice by using the wooden base.
its now at 90deg opposite to the lean with soft safety catch underneath incase. It should now lean back into the correct position using gravity although it could take a while.
The problem could be un levelled shelf , I'll check. If it is level and I get the figure back upright , I can only think of a perspex rod between base and horse under belly to support or maybe a steel rod and and add some discreet shrubbery to disguise it.
Thanks for help with this ...I appreciate your "support ".

I had a similar problem with my PM mounted Dragoon, we’re the weight of the white metal is acting on one of the rear legs, causing the rear leg to bend after many years. To correct it, I physically forced the leg back to correct the movement and installed a rock to support.
Hopefully curing the issue for many years.
