The Yukon Field Force, comprised mostly of members of the Royal Canadian Regiment, was formed from 1898-1900, to support the North-West Mounted Police, and the Canadian government, in the maintaining of law and order during the Klondike Gold Rush. Their main job was guarding gold shipments, patrolling, and ceremonial duties. They were dispersed in mid-1900 to go to South Africa, and fight in the Second Boer War.
