Hi Planeteers
My latest work is a Verlinden 200 mm bust of a French Cuirassier.
It's my first in such a large scale, have done 120 mm as the largest. I had a lot of trouble getting the cuirass right , the figure was stripped from paint 3 times :depressed: I'm fairly happy with the result considered that it almost went into the trash can 3 times :)
Face is painted in oils the rest acrylics, steel on helmet and cuirass is sprayed with Motip Chrome Spray.
Feel free to comment (please be gentle remember this is my "first time")

Nice job Brian. I recently did a large scale cuirassier and had some trouble with the metals. I like your metals a lot. In fact I like just about everything on this piece. There might be a piece of dust on his face that you want to remove....there is your brutal critique. :)

Thank you very much, to all of you, for your comments and likes

eeee.....:nailbiting: can't take it, will throw it away ... LOL ;) Thank you Colin (y)
Yes I noticed  , it's very nice with all the modern technology but suddenly you can see all the little details  and I have found something which needs some attention.
Once again thank you

Excellent work and the armour is excellently rendered. However from my Laptop and Tablet the collar seems to be orange / aurore - a facing colour not introduced until 1810 at the earliest according to my sources (Rousselot, Knotel, Officers & Soldiers, Les Cuirassiers). If it's my eyes please forgive me or if you have other sources then I'd be happy to know.

Oopss.... big mistake, now it's heading for the trash can :depressed: You are so very right, I have checked my sources and I have mixed up some details, thank you for mentioning it (y)
Can you forgive a poor bastard for bringing our hole library in danger, I will promise to be more attention next time :sorry:

I have cancelled the trash can and come up with an idea, what if I change the title to - Commandant de l'Escadron 6 th. Cuirassiers 1810? then I should be home free and it will spare me to repaint the collar (I suffer from moderate laziness )

Laziness is the fast track to productivity. I have an old Verlinden bust of Poniatowski I may dust off thanks to your inspiration here :)

Colin

Call it 1812 to be on the safe side or repaint the collar. I love the paint job... Huw
You drive a hard bargain ;) but I appreciate your comments, thank you very much (y) I will go for a new title - Commandant de l'Escadron 6 th. Cuirassiers 1812
