Confederate Cavalry Col's sash

I am about to start Carolina Miniatures figure of Turner Ashby, the figure was sculpted and painted I believe by Doug Cohen after this painting http://www.johnpaulstrain.com/art/knight-of-the-valley.htm

The painting and the boxart both show the sash as red, but would he have worn a yellow sash as a cavalry Col (the painting depict him before his promotion to brig genl)?

Actually, the horse is crap and I will most likely replace it, which will slow the progress

I checked my references, you are correct, the norm was a yellow sash, however, there were representations of captains in a couple units with red sashes.

I agree, I have a picture of one with a Red Sash. OOP's not a picture, a painting!
