I would like to Congratulate out Planet members who represented the planet at the recent Tulsa Show held yesterday.

A Special Congrats to John Long for his award of "The Tulsa Medal" Tulsa Medallists are those individuals who, over the past years, have consistently demonstrated superior creativity, artistry and skill. This award was voted on by present Tulsa Medallist.

Anders Heintz and Joe Hudson and Bob Tavis came away with multiple awards and I hope they will post which figure won what award. ( they kept calling the guys up for awards and I forgot for which figure)

Hats off to John.....again Congratulations!!

** If I missed any other planet members and mentioning their recieving awards, please let me know.

Hey Guy!

It was great to see you again, and to see your stuff in the flesh! Congrats on your award too!

Other pf members that was there was, Brad Spelts, poor guy who came in from Colorado and the airline lost his figures somewhere on the way), Bryon Ray who also got an award, Kevin Wheeler, Alex, Mrosko, Bill Chilstrom were also there.

It was a great show and great to see everybody and their figures in the flesh!

The Tulsa show was great again. The club did a terrific job of putting together a first rate event. Many pF contributors were in attendance and did themselves proud with their awards. I'm sure a lot of ideas were exchanged. Fletcher Clement's seminar was well attended and very enlightening. If you've never met Fletcher, he is very imaginative and extremely articulate. As Guy mentioned earlier, I was shocked, honored, and humbled to join the company of the other Tulsa medalists. If you've never made the Tulsa show, put it in your plans. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks Joe. Sure wish I could have been there. This is three years in a row that I have had to miss it because of the military. But, seeing as how there's no point in complaining, it's nice to see some pictures of the fine work displayed at the show. CONGRATULATIONS to one and all! (y)

Anders, what paratrooper?

 I just got off the phone with Chris Mrosko. It seems an old friend of mine, Len Johnson, ( a TERRIFIC guy by the way) entered on old figure I did a couple of years ago. A SILVER?! I don't know what to say?

As soon as I do a bit of editing and get the photos pointing the right side up, I'll post a link here to more Tulsa Show photos.
I'm glad everyone enjoyed it. Very soon, we'll be starting up the plans and getting things ready for next years show. There were some really nice pieces on display this year. The the beer had a nice taste to it as well. Although next year, I'll be sure to bring an air pack to the smoking room.
Overall, I hope everyone walked away from the display room feeling a little closer to God. (you had to be there). Never before have I seen so many black women so poorly dressed, but full of the Holy Spirit. That was way worse than the Pink Lady invasion at the Dallas IPMS Nationals. Praise the Lord!

Hey Guys,

No problem on the pictures. I would like to say that I did enjoy the show very much and the site has made it really nice by meeting others and now putting faces to names.

My take on the show. :) Guy had a very nice display and his Rain man Charlie was one of my favorites. Jim, your paratrooper was very nice and Len is a really nice guy. Chris Mrosko had what I think was his best work ever. I have to tip my hat to him. Anders, work was heads above what he has done in the past. his highlander bust was first class! John's work was up to his usual standard but his Clinch rifles' was so much better than pictures. He was deserving of the award and the Tulsa Medal. Bill's work is always something fun to see and always up on the standard platform. I think he is one of the most underrated talents out there. It may be that he is so loud and obnoxious! No, if you know Bill he is just the opposite. He is a very quiet man but if you ask him a question he will spend as much time with you and help you on painting sculpting or modeling he is first class.

I know that there were others from PF and I am very sorry that I can not remember some of the work off the top of my head but if anyone can let me know what it was I usually can remember it. I am getting old and losing it!

Joe

Kevin aint joking when he says we are all closer to god and I think we all have enough religion until atleast next year. As for the smoking room, 10 cigars in a small room don't really work well, I bet the people walking down the hall thought we had a camp fire or something from the smoke.

Amen Brother Anders.......Its not every day you can enjoy the fellowship of fellow miniaturist and be saved at the same time  All in all I enjoyed being able to meet many of you from the forum and put a face and a voice to a name. I have to say that Tulsa is one of the stiffest competitions I have attended and the quality of painting for a small club is astounding.

For those who weren't there, there was some kind of all womens (mostly black) revival conferance in the room right next to ours, and they sang and yelled for 3 hours. The vendors were right behind the band and the speakers (yellers) and man I feel for them! When talking to a vandor you had to raise your voice, and it was a blessing :)lol:) when they finally packed up and left as you could hear your self think again!

Guy,
If the hospitality suite was as "good" as it's been in previous years, then you guys DEFNITELY needed to have your souls saved (especially after the poetry reading).

Congratulations to all on your achievements. But most of all, congratulations to John on the Tulsa Medal - couldn't happen to a nicer and more deserving guy.

P.S - someone please give Mindeman a new shirt next year (it's the same rag he's been wearing since in '99!!!)

Actually, Mark has a closet full of the same shirt. His other closet is full of University of Oklahoma shirts.
Another presentation that was given at the show on Friday night was a Lifetime Service award to Mark for all the hard work he's done for the club and the show through all the years. Very, very much deserved.
As for the poetry reading, let's just say that this years subject involved our resident grass skirt wearing gnome.
