Thanks guys I might try a couple of light passes of purple/blue on the flesh Richie thanks. Heh interesting a Canadian says the snow is right and Scotsman disagrees tough call this  I'll see what some others think, Rog is the cap dark enough you think ? I've seen so many different colours of it I think it's ok.

Great work Steve,
You are moving forward everytime you pick up your brushes.
I like the subject of this bust and my thoughts, for what they are worth, are that less is more effective where ice and snow are concerned.
Cheers Mate and good work,
Keith
Oh yes, as you know I have a thing about Navy Blue:mad: ........... for me you are on the money

Thanks folks I think I am quitting while ahead on the snow and leaving well alone bar an odd touch up if needed when the last few bits are done over.
Steve

Excellent! My only suggestion would be to make the coat and hat look a bit damp or even wet in places. Snow melting and even ice... Could that be done by applying some semi-gloss clear in places? Obviously I'm not a painter, so what do I know? Feel free to ignore this if you don't agree.

All the best,
Dan

Damn, what a distressing story. Bad enough to be out in such a inhospitable environment let alone being sought out by the enemy. Your bust looks great and I commend you for giving tribute to these men.

Joe

Cheers Dan I did think about it but it's one of those effects that might go badly wrong so I'm saying he'd just walked back into the bridge after being outside and it hasn't melted yet :shifty: I haven't forgotten your figure mate honest just waiting for the muse to strike on it. Thanks Joe much appreciated

Yes Helm, what is more Clarkson (in my opinion) presented it well showing that he can hold his own when the subject matter requires it ... and yes I am a Top Gear fan :D,

I've seen him do a couple of serious documentaries and he's not the cock he appears to be on Top Gear TBH

Steve I think you and Steve Leadly have done a great job with this figure. Steve (Valiant) great job getting the Duffle coat right. Spent years looking at my dads bridge coat and thats just about right. I was lucky, you dont need a bridge coat in the engine room!
No more snow Steve, bridge wings tend to deflect most rain and snow above the bridge if you are steaming (ships speed in case you think otherwise). Also watchkeepers tend to be close to edge of bridge wing so not too much snow on front of coat.

Lovely job by you both.

Don

Thanks Don much appreciated mate (y) It is a very nice sculpt, simple but very evocative of that time and place
Steve

Thanks Steve, Dad spent some 5 years on convoys, never saw his duffle coat then but got used to it over the years when he came home and we were both home at the same time.
He even used his last Bridge duffle coat after he retired, walking the dog. A well used coat.

Don

Oddly, according to Gordon, this has not been a particularly good selling figure (not like the U boat captains!).

Mike

Thanks Gells as ever your advice was invaluable mate. Shame that Mike its one of the few figures to tempt me out of my usual dark age/medieval faves
Steve

Added a few purple/blue washes and a bit of a tidy up around the face not totally done but your thoughts ?
