This weekend is the 225th Anniversary Celebration of the Battle of Cowpens in SC. There will also be a reenactment of the event. This was a pivotal battle in the Rev War. This was also where Daniel Morgan so effectively combined the strengths of the militia and Continentals together to defeat the much dreaded British Regulars. His ingenuity and dynamic leadership ship put "Bloody Ban" Tarelton to flight. It's a small park but nicley preserved. BTW- The Volunteers of Ireland, the topic of Garys latest 54mm sculpt, was one of the units that fought there on the side of the Brits. I plan to attend and hope to get some pictures of reenactors and perhaps some inspiration for some new figure. For more info go to http://www.nps.gov/cowp/ Hope to see you there!

Mike, I just saw on the History channel a program dedicated to the battle liek a week ago, so looking forward to the photos you would be taking on the reenactors.

Cowpens is a neat battlefield, small but probably one of the best preserved in the country. Too bad it's a bit of a drive from Western PA, would'nt mind checking out the events planned for that weekend.~Gary

That's one battlefield I've always wanted to see, especially since there's a chance an ancestor of mine was there.

Banny burned down a mill my family owned as well.

Yes, I have visited the park. Beautiful area in the Smoky Mountain "foothills."
All the best to the reenactors!
