Well its been a while since I posted in here and almost a year since I've painted anything.
So the mojo meter passed through "Meh, can't be bothered" to "get yer backside in gear" and I picked this bust off the stash, seeing as it was coming up to Halloween I thought I'd get her painted by the 31st.
So what do we have.
A 1/10 scale bust, comprising 4 pieces, hat, torso, snake and base, there wasn't much clean up but the seams are on visible parts and an annoying one running from under the chin to the lower neck, but Albion Alloys sanding rods and a fibreglass pen cleaned them up

Then on to painting, pre planning wasnt involved in any way so skulls and roses painted, then I had to cut in the base colour.

Then the hat, I forgot what a pain it is to paint gold, of any kind, so out with vallejo gold which will go over the red easily, or so I thought, so painted chocolate brown where the gold would go.
Blended black red at the rear to red at the front
Added cabochons to the detail, used a Molotov chrome pen first, added a drop of Revell UV cured glue then set it with the UV light, then a drop of Tamiya clear colours.

Then painted the top, chocolate brown and black base, gold over the brown, silver over black, sequins added with chrome pen.
And I don't think I'll do any more to that

Hope to get more painted soon.

Nice work so far Mick :)

Like the process for making the jewels as well. Base looks great and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of it come together.
Cheers
Paul

ps - I have Mojo ebbs and flows, as do most others too I suspect - just the way of things(y)

Hi Phil....
Been working and travelling with not much time for painting, but back and on it like an Easter bonnet.

I sent an email to Creepytables about the possibility of obtaining La Charra (their website showed that the figure was out of stock). I got an almost immediate response from Pawel
"Hi Bill,
> We are picking up new batch tomorrow or Monday.
> I make her available in the store just now, so you can place an order, shipping Monday-Tuesday.
> best,
> Pawel"
BTW, tomorrow or Monday would be November 6 or Nov 9, 2020. I was able to order one and if you like this amazing and interesting figure and want one, now would be a great time to order!!

Well that was like pulling teeth, 4 bloody hours, just could not get a smooth white finish to her face, even using Schmincke primacryl, so stripped it off and started again, which was worse, anyhoo its to represent the realistic effect of pan makeup added thickly, my excuse and sticking to it, I mean, how are you meant to do a realistic face with tonal variation when its pure white, and going to be in shadow from her massive titfer.
Breathe, deep breath.
I'll have a go at adding grey around the eyes so the black isn't so stark, hairs blocked in, flesh base coated now for highlights.
I did have some success with an experiment for painting the snake skin, more to follow.

Regards.

Just have visions of you in a Easter bonnet after you mentioned !!!!!

This is looking to be a great version of this bust. Loved the addition of the cabochons (had to look that one up). Presented painted bust to a Mexican-American co-worker of my wife for Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) last year. Pawel at Creepytables was very helpful in getting me my copy.

Blocked in more colour, just to work out a battle order of colours, there are some serious undercuts and hard edges so need to know what goes where.
Bit more work round the eyes, a couple of grey shades.
I'm going with purple for the dress as theres a lot of red in the sombrero.
Also had a play with Black3.0 from Culture Hustle, the blackest black paint, this is 3 coats brush painted on.
