Hi Mike,

What brilliant painting job you have done with the figure I am looking at. Could I ask you a few questions regarding the painting of your figurine?

(a) What paints did you use? (SORRY - just seen in the text the paints you used).
(b) What paints did you use for the metallic finish?

Hope you did not mind me asking.

Kindest regards. ;)

Thanks guys,

Donald,
I used the vallejo line of acrylics.
The helmet was painted with model master chrome silver as a base coat. This was allowed to cure and then a wash of black was applied. Once dry, I give it a once over with Tamiya smoke. Once this is dry I go over it with pencil graphite just to give it a "steel" tone or cast. The visor is one of the white metal castings that are part of this kit and for it I just buffed it up and then added the smoke. The slight difference in tone between the visor and the helmet are a nice touch in my opinion.

I didn't like the bow string that came with the kit, so I made my own from jewelers wire. The whippings on the end and at the nocking point are just a finer guage of wire wrapped around the main string.

Hi gentlemans :) ,
I am from the Czech republic and I am beginer in painting figures. I just start with that hobby and I buy vallejo colours and exactly this figure( because Druid figures are from my country and they are cheaper than Verlinden's) So , can I ask for cupple of questions?

1) how many layers did you use for shadows and lights?
2) how did you do the shadow colour and lights colour? did you add some black to base colour?
3) did you use the acryling method for the face too?

I thank you for your writing and I am sorry for my English

Thank you Julian,

I used 3-4 layers for each. For the yellow I used a buff to lighten and red and brown to darken. For the green I added yellow to lighten and blue to darken. Adding just a little more of each color for the next layer.
I did the same for the face. Using lighter colors mixed into the base and progressively layering each shade. Then doing the same for the darker colors. Just making each shade darker. For the hollows of the cheeks and the frown lines I added some maroon. Vallejo calls it red but to mee it looks more maroon or dark crimson than red.

Hope this helps. My czech is much worse than your english...
I'm very happy with Druid figures and plan to pick up some more of them.
