The flail is a small ball bearing to which I attached the tip of cocktail sticks,to which I attached a small chain. It received a base cote of valleo black then a mix of printer's ink mixed with ivory black oil paint. It was then given a wash of Tamiya smoke 19 and further highlighted with pure printer's ink.

Thanks Harold,

Did you paint the blue in Acrylics? If so would you care to share your color mix? I had a closer look at the highlighting and weathering and love it. :)

thanks

I started with a base of vallejo medium blue mixed with andrea union blue and german cam brown. Highlights were added using Andrea light blue, whilst adding more cam bwm for the lowlights. Weathering was done adding small amounts of andrea dark flesh and vallejo ochre bwn to the mixture.

Hope this helps

Hi Harold! Thanks for the comments on your blue mix and weathering. It would never have occurred to me to use brown to shade blue - darker blues yes, browns no... If I read this right, you're adding the flesh/browns mix to the base coat and then applying it. You're not applying the mix after the base, hi-lites, and shadows have been applied, correct?

Cheers,

Glen

Yes you are right I am using brw/flesh directly in the mix .This will allow much more subtle shading affects rather than using them alone after the surcoat was compleated.

I tried different mixes to get that colour but I couldn't....until you mentioned brown. BINGO! Many thanks!!!! :D
