Working on one of two soldiers, these being Barrell’s 4th foot who took the most casualties on the Government side at Culloden.

Using Jo Sonja acrylics for most of the paintwork with some Alclad II and Mr Hobby metals. I tried to create some texture for the belts and gun strap on this figure and think it came out okay.

The zig zag detailing on the edge of the redcoat was fiddly, based on the various examples of the 4th Foot uniform from the 1740s.

Will weather the figure and uniforms into the scene when that’s built up later in the painting process.

Getting close to finishing another figure for the scene, a little more work on his eyes when I’m relaxed then will weather him into the scene.

I’ve tried to create texture in this scale of figure, varying his waistcoat from his trousers in contrast to the leather of his belts.

Painted mostly in Jo Sonja Acrylics, with some Tamiya, Alclad II and Mr Metal for the metallics.

Blimey ....so much progress ...you must have tartan paint .....the results you've achieved are as others have said ...blooming marvellous .

Nice work on the 4th soldiers

What's particularly noticeable is the individual character on each figure

Never would anyone guess the original figures ....well done to you

Look forward to seeing more from you on this

Happy benchtime

Thank you kind sir,

I must admit I went a bit cross eyed doing the tartan, all those straight lines and holding breath caused me to nearly hyper ventilate a few times lol.

Need to work on this chaps eyes and face a little more, being at angle charging the soldiers his pupils will be higher in the socket, think they need more definition as not quite right to me.

Really enjoyed doing the tartan on these trousers, I had an example from a re-enactor and seen similar in paintings and other references and thought they look cool. I’m pleased with his Targe (shield) and other details like the basket hilted broadsword.

Cheers, M.
