Hello Folks
70 years ago today saw the formation of Bomber Commands 617 Squadron at RAF Scampton which on May 17th 1943 took part in one of the most famous raids of WW2, Operation Chastise, the bombing of three major Dams on the Ruhr in Germany which earned the Squadrons nick name 'The Dambusters'.

To commemorate this event MMM has commissioned Maurice Corry to sculpt this 200mm scale resin figure depicting the unit commander Wing Commander Guy Gibson who was later awarded the Victoria Cross for his part in the raid.

These kits are in production and I hope to have a few available for this weeks IPMS show at Hinkley.

Anyone interested in ordering one please drop me a line on [email protected] or visit my website www.mitchesmilitarymodels.co.uk
Price is £65.00 which includes worldwide shipping.

Cheers
Gordon

The figure itself looks nice overall in terms of the uniform and details but the first thing that I saw was that neck! Half that visible length and it wouldn't look wrong.

And given this is a portrait I don't really see a good likeness:

This is a limited series of angled but I suspect the face is too narrow and the ears sit too flat against the side of the head.

Agree about the neck (easy enough fix though if it comes as a separate part) and the ears, but I think the overall likeness is quite good. Look forward to taking a gander at it close up.

guy gibson looks different in every photo he has one of them faces, i`m not that good at likenesses.
The neck is the master so its propped up on blu tack.
Guy gibson shot down a heinkel as a night fighter early in the war and took a german life jacket from the wreckage as a souvenire, he wore it a lot, they even had it right in the film the dambusters.
