Thanks for posting this Steve, a great reminder of so much effort and lives lost. I have just finished re-reading James Hollands " The Dam Busters: The Race to Smash the Dams 1943". A brilliant book much recommended.

Not the Dambusters, but my late father's crew (463 Squadron, RAAF) in front of their Lancaster JO-N, 'Nick the Nazi Neutraliser'. They survived 37 ops, returning from the raid on Brest on two engines:
