Any suggestions on how to ensure that this clay stays put on the base. I had an almost tragic accident where my large scale figure was pinned on a surface made in part from pronto which literally came off the rest of the base. I have also had it curl on the edges when applied to wooden bases after it dried. I see a lot of potential for this medium but want to minimize future problems. So any tips appreciated.

I use a clay mixed with water & Elmers glue. It solved my curling problem and the only way you will get it off is with a chisel.

can that be done with Das? Sound like a simple solution
Yes,

And it works very well.
Talino, with every clay, wallfiller, plaster of paris you can mix with water and white glue (elmers, bison or what ever). It never will curl again and above it will hold on the base better.
At the other hand, the drying time will be shorter.
