Hello,

here are some very early wip pictures of a / resin bust called death dealer which I bought from Travrion.
It's in / scale and so far I've used acrylics and inks to put some colours on it;

Many thanks for watching,

Gino

He is great, I really like fantasy pieces like this.
I will be following your progress on this one.

Thank you very much for the nice comments. The bust is indeed from Trovarion. I bougth it 5 or 6 years ago and the packaging didn't bear a name or so, so I had problems remembering the correct name. I have been working a bit on it, I currently suffer from some kind of flu so I can't paint that much, but if I feel up to it I'll take new pictures thissunday and post them asap.

Thank youall for watching and commenting,

Gino

Hello,

Finally I've made some progress. I felt like I had to blend the skintones some more. With this done I felt the contrast was gone, blending again, contrast agai till the point that the face was ruined. So to make a long story short : I kind of repainted the face. I started to feel frustrated about it and the best thing I can do then is put it aside and start something else, which at a point frustrated me also, do you know that feeling when painting seems to be more frustrating than fun? Last weekend I felt like working onthis bust again. I tweaked the skin a bit, had to do some work on the purple headgear and I've painted his shirt and medaillons. Now it's only some detail and then that beast! I'm not looking forward to painting this as this still can ruin the bust completel. Anyway, here's a picture of where the bust is now. Please let me know what you think of it, what needs to be improved and if someone can give me some tips or ideas on how to paint that lizzard like beast, these are all more than welcome!

Thanks for looking,

Gino

I know the feeling you went through, sometimes all you can do is stop, I think the brain works through the problem until all.of a sudden you know what to do and 'oh it's finished, when did that happen'.

As for the beast I'd suggest looking at the work of fantasy artists like Boris Vellajo, Julie Bell, Chris Achelios and many others. I learnt a lot studying these artists about use of colour and light, there are enough beasts and dragons in their work to help I'm sure.

He really is looking good with the repaint, take your time it would be a shame to spoil it now.

Cheers Simon

Hi Simon,

Stepping away from a project can indeed be a good thing to do. I then paint on another model to keep the hands trained;)

I was thinking to search for pictures of a real leguaan or something, never thought about these great artists, although I have some books of them. Thanks very much for this great tip.

I hope soon to post pics of the finnished figure.

Take care an thank you the great tip,

Gino.
