I had my doubts if I should show it here or not. It is a nightmare to paint and to assemble. The casting of this (in my eyes) expensive figure whas very, very bad. The face whas so badly cast that I put the mask upon it. The legs where bad as whas the overall fitting.
I think I whas the lucky guy that bought the last before they cleaned the master.
So enough complaining, but you can't build a good house on a very bad underground.
I did my best to get the best out of it. Hope Pegaso will clean the masters more. ;)
And as always my photographic skills are worse.

Nice paint job and great work on the mask. What a shame that companies facing real competition these days care so little about quality control to ship shoddy products.

You have done a wonderful paintjob on one of my favourite Roman figures. By way of polite feedback however, I think you (may?) have attached the helmet's feathers incorrectly? The helmet just behind the ears has two small sockets with indents which need a mini drill to deepen them and thus accomodate the shaft of the feathers. Perhaps if your piece was a bad casting as you say, this feature on the helmet may not have been too obvious or even present? Irrespective, a tremendously well painted figure and the white horse also merits praise.

Well done!

well your efforts have paid off well, i like the horse and the metals and the mask finishes it off (y)

Thanks GAry.
I looked again to the helmet and there are no sockets or something that looks like a socket. The only indication whas the red horsehair on top with had a very small fould where the feather fit in. So I put it there in relation to the pictures from the box.
And on the pictures from the box the shaft of the feathers must be downwards as they are now.
There are no fittingpoints on the feathers eather.
But anyway thanks for the comment, it is apreciated very much.

Hi Marc.
They ARE there mate but they are very small with a recess in the engraved section of the helmet to 'bed' the feather into the helmet (I have the kit's head in front of me now) . It also shows the feathers on the Pegaso website fitted into them if you look carefully. As I say, the sockets are minute so if you had a duff casting, they may well not have been there or evident on your own copy. It's a minor matter and as I said, a superbly painted piece by you - congratulations.
Cheers Marc,
Gary

i remember verlinden did a similar mounted 120mm scale figure, which i thought was great at the time. you have done a great job on your figure considering the poor quality of the casting. well done/badger

You did a wonderful job on this figure . These mounted guys are a lot of work as they are ,so its annoying when you have to contend with sloppy casting as well . Looks like your hard work paid off and the mask looks great .

Cheers

Looking good Marc. A very timely post as I'm about to start my version.
Had a look and the sockets are there, small but perfectly formed :)
I was lucky and got one of the early runs, the face is well cast and no real problems with the fit either.
I had planned on a dark horse but I think I'll switch to a grey having seen how well you've handled this.(y)
Cheers

Very good work Marc on what must be a challenging figure.
I like your work on the horse particularly.

The feathers should indeed be mounted by their shaft. The original helmet had small 'holders' to mount the feathers. But I didn't notice at first. And you probably don't want to do any more more work on him now...!

Cheers
Adrian
