Instead of using raw umber for those seams would it be better to just mix a very dark shade of the base color?
The umber looks way to strong.

Thanks

Tony,
Looks fine to me and I usually always use the raw umber for lining and seams. You could always thin the paint down and the umber would not be quite as harsh.

Hey John i've been wondering where you got off to,good to see ya buddy.
Ok i'll try one with the umber thinner then. I've got three more to do so i've got plenty to practice on.

Thanks John for the advice, appreciate it my man

A very dark shade of the base colour could well be just like Raw Umber, since Raw Umber is generally a dark, dull yellow or orange-yellow.

If it's not looking right you can always try mixing in a smidge of the midtone to pull the colour back a notch; alternatively mix in a small amount of grey. Either way, the thing to aim for is applying the paint thinly and sparingly.

Einion looking at it I think that's the main problem, too heavy a line to start with.
I'll work on that too, thanks for your pointers.

Hi Tony

I think Umbra is alone too much, but mixed with the base color, it should look better. You can try yes then how much they use Umbra.

I started to experiment this morning.
(y) That's the way to do it - play around with things, see what works and what doesn't. You'll often find that things you try that don't turn out the way you expect will teach you useful things that you can file away to apply to a future project.
