Hi All,
Sometime ago I bought some figures off Gordon with the aim of stripping them back to use as mannequin's. I knew when I saw them that I wanted to make a little scene of defending the hospital door.
Early days, so while the brushes are not happening I have made a start. The façade of the door has been made and will have a Zulu arm thrusting through it. One figure will be ready to thrust back at the Zulu and two other figures will be forcing the door closed.
cheers

Just a thought, how about a couple of 17th Lancers discovering the body of Prince Imperial...or the last stand of Captain Younghusband at Islandlwana….or
maybe "get those brushes out and paint something!!!"
All the best for the new year to all Zulu fans everywhere...

Hi Steve, Geoff, Jim, John, Bob, Richie, Mike and Steve,
Thank you all for looking in, the animation is all down to Carl, loved the poses and new what I wanted to do with them. A lot of over sculpting to do so I will get cracking tomorrow.

Hi Steve,
This is a 54mm version I started based on the Alphonse De Neuville in a similar vane. It's sat on the W.I.P. bench of shame.

Another very nice idea - looking forward to seeing everything develop. Don't know
if you've read Mike Snook's book 'Like Wolves on the Fold', but in it there is a riveting
account of one of the defenders who hid in a cupboard in the outer office while the zulus
were milling around in the same room and getting fed up that they couldn't get through
that very door. Absolutely 'Boys Own' stuff................

Mike

Richie, are these figures likely to available commercially or are they "one off's"?

Steve

Hi Steve,
These will be one off's as these are not my figures but belong to Gordon.
cheers

Great stuff Richie!

Gordon

Hi Gordon,
Thank you mate, your Hogoumont figures! pared back for converting. The stances and facial expressions fit this project spot on.

Hi All,
Managed to get the façade finished today and undercoated. I have made the door so it opens in order to paint behind it, the thatch has been fitted to the roof section, the walls plastered with a rough mix and the timbers have been roughed up.
I will need to order a base from Pete so I can fix the façade and then make stone flooring, once this is done I can accurately place the figures. Hopefully I can get on with the figures next week.
cheers
Richie
