Hi I have always been a fan of painting low cost figures to try and show a good sculpt is a good sculpt.
Accordingly when the Del prado castings first came out I stripped a few and repainted them.
The following figures are just a repaint, no additions or changes, apart from enhancing plumes and crests with static grass or scalpel.
I hope you will like some of them at least.
It's my job to make a sows ear out of a silk purse :(

Seriously though, these look great. Love the line dragoon and the horse grenadier officer especially.
Thanks for that graham, the dragoon's even got a bit of a pot belly too!
Some of them are great little characters.
Bearing in mind you can pick'em up for a couple of quid. Great fun.
What I do is keep them on the shelf until I get near the end of a project, then dip one or two in stripper, come back and have a look at what needs filing or replacing. Good fun to have on stand by

You've taken a lot out of these figures, Paul. I would also like to paint from time to time such figures, well painted like yours, it is that they are better than they seem.

Kind words Eduardo, I appreciate that I'm a fan of your style as you know( I hope you know).ould think you will pick a few up for a couple of euros each on ebay.
Paul

Paul,
Well done you , great use of the figures and nice painting as well ...are you planning to do all the series?
Thanks for sharing Nap

Well thank you m'dear boy,
you know you said yesterday, "we have never met"?
So when I sneak up next to you at a show and give you a manhug
it should really freak you out with your shockingly bad memory then !
If I wear a disguise, say like a belgian nun, I could get away with it another time too.
That's my cunning plan

When these first came out at the newsagents I considered the whole thing to be another rip-off.
However, I certainly wouldn't call the basic figures a 'sow's ear'. Just looking at the faces and stances indicates to me that a good sculptor has been at work.
Well done Paul for making good use of a cheap source of material.

Cheers,
Andrew

Kev ? Belgian buns ? Well nibble my cherries and call me danish baaaaaa:!
I haven't got any 'in process' I'll make up del's special elixer and send you a piccie.

BUSTS.....

Serving suggestion.:-
Mate they are £1.99 on evil bay, buy one and a pair of bolt cutters...
You'll have a bust for one of your other busts to look at.
If you line yourself up at the other end it would look like russian dolls.

Cooking instructions:- if it's not done by sunrise I'll.....

:D. :D. :D
